Job Opening for Accounts Executive (Indirect Tax)

Location: Bangalore

Exp: 3-6 years.

Job Objective
To formulate and develop the overall direct and indirect taxes processes and effectively implement the same in alignment with the overall organization guidelines. Ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns and monitor compliance to all tax laws and regulations applicable to Sattva.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop the Direct and Indirect tax process in collaboration with the Head – F&A so as to control the tax liability of Sattva to optimize profits after tax
  • Define policies in consultation with the Head - Accounts to ensure compliance with the provisions of Sales Tax Act and Rules
  • Develop methods for tax planning at the corporate level including tax planning for SPVs, affiliates and other group companies
  • Survey the environment and monitor changes in the tax laws and their implications on Sattva
  • Ensure overall tax compliance for Sattva by arranging for timely and correct payment of tax to minimize penal interest
  • Liaise with tax consultants and advisors for tax optimization purposes
  • Ensure registration and renewals required under various direct and indirect tax enactments
  • Ensure the effective management of the organization’s tax liabilities and ascertain that the organization’s finances are accurately reported and taxes optimized
  • Lead all tax audit activities, review annual returns and ensure all relevant and legitimate information as per the assessment officers requests is provided
  • Review the reconciliation of book entries of tax payments
  • Ensure filing / issue of periodic forms / returns under various statutes
  • Provide inputs to Region Accounts in the areas of direct and indirect taxation and ensure standardization of taxation practices across all regions
  • Provide operational support to the various departments on appeals against the tax assessments on direct and indirect taxes. Prepare the arguments to be presented and attend the hearings
  • Provide inputs to the sourcing department with respect to taxation on domestic procurement and imports
  • Arrange for timely and correct payment of tax to ensure that no penal interest is paid or whatever paid is minimum
  • Minimize cost escalations due to penalties for delays in tax filing/inaccurate tax filing
  • Maximize rebates and MODVAT credits against the payment of taxes
  • Provide inputs in formulation of departmental budget and ensure adherence to the same
  • Foster an environment of learning, excellence and innovation within all aspects of team work
  • Mentor and coach subordinates to develop the team’s capabilities
  • Undertake performance management for self and team
  • Adhere to training calendar for self and team and mentor and coach subordinates to develop the team’s capabilities

Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of Real Estate and the applicability of Tax Rules and Regulations/nature of taxes applicable to various processes/activities
